Yusra Mardini is a power girl who made the first ever Olympic team for refugees. A refugee is a person that was forced to leave their country because of things from wars to natural disaster. Yusra and 3 other swimmers had to get out of one big refugee boat and had to push it for a very long time. If Yusra didn't believe in herself, the boat would have trouble sailing away from Syria.
It says ""Butterfly" recounts her harrowing journey from Syria to Germany, where she now resides, and also shares her inner conflicts about leaving her home, swimming for the refugee Olympic team in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, and her interpersonal relationships. Even with her extraordinary and unimaginable story, the book is relatable in its humanness. She doesn't want any special treatment. "My message has been the same," she says in her book. "A refugee is a human being like any other."" Butterfly is a story that Yusra made explaining what she went through while pushing the boat, but it also explains what it means to be a refugee. For me, this is very important to now what a refugee is because some people don't know what it is. But in the end, Yusra shows that everyone can be strong.
